Open Question: Detroit's unemployment rate 50%, will the blue states ever recover? While most of us have a reported 10%, unreported 17 - 22% unemployment rate, 50% is depression numbers. I know most blue states are in very bad shape, will they ever completely recover? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/12/16/detroits-unemployment-rat_n_394559.html Open Question: which team will win this week nfl football?Arizona at Detroit New England at Buffalo Minnesota at Carolina Tampa Bay at Seattle New York Giants at Washington San Francisco at Philadelphia Open Question: What do you think about this idea for NHL realignment?Gets rid of a lot of the Sunbelt teams and adds a lot of teams in Canada. Also contracts the league to 20 teams: 4 divisions of 5 teams each. First I eliminated the Southeast and Pacific divisions; then I moved a few other teams north: Just like in the 80's, 4 out of 5 teams per division would make the playoffs; the first round would be division semifinals, the second round would be division finals, the third round would be conference finals, and the fourth round would be the Stanley Cup finals (each round best of 7 with a 2-3-2 format: play 2 games at the higher seed's home, 3 at the lower seed and 2 at the higher seed): Canadian Conference Western Division 1) Calgary 2) Edmonton 3) Hamilton 4) Vancouver 5) Winnipeg Eastern Division 1) Halifax 2) Montreal 3) Ottawa 4) Quebec City 5) Toronto American Conference Western Division 1) Buffalo 2) Chicago 3) Detroit 4) Minneapolis 5) Pittsburgh Eastern Division 1) Boston 2) Hartford 3) Newark 4) New York 5) Philadelphia Scheduling: Interconference: Play all five teams in one of the opposite conferences division at home, and all five teams in the other division in the opposite conference away, for a total of 10 games. Interdivision, intraconference: Play 5 teams in the other conference in the same division four times each, for a total of 20 games Intradivision: Play each division opponent 14 times each for a total of 56 games. This results in an 86-game schedule. It's a bit controversial. No more teams in California, Florida or Texas. In fact, no American teams west of Minneapolis or south of Philadelphia. And some small Canadian cities have teams. It seems it's the Canadians that follow the NHL most passionately though. More Recent Articles
